Year Four Ends With Four New Wins For Baxtersmith
BaxterSmith celebrates four years of business this month with four new client gains, worth in excess of £1 million in total.
The Institute for Animal Health has awarded the business caterer a five-year contract for two sites, starting in July. BaxterSmith will operate restaurants for over 500 scientists and support staff, as well as a hospitality function, at the institute's head office in Berkshire and a further site in Surrey. July also sees the start of a five-year contract from Random House Group. BaxterSmith will refurbish the staff restaurant and coffee bar for 450 employees of the London-based publisher.
From September, BaxterSmith will provide foodservice for 400 employees of Lex Auto Logistics - a subsidiary of the RAC - at its Lancashire site. In addition, BaxterSmith has won the contract to operate directors' dining and client hospitality for a prestigious London investment banking house.
The independent business caterer achieved an annual turnover of
£24 million in 2003/04. The company's 800 staff now work across 75 sites throughout the UK, including those operated by BaxterSmith Scotland north of the border.
Executive chairman William Baxter comments:
" Nothing can beat good food and excellent service. Our reputation for delivering those qualities brings us discerning clients who want something special for their employees and their guests. We are fortunate because BaxterSmith attracts people who make catering their career and who love the work they do. It's their enthusiasm and commitment that give us the edge over our competitors.
"We chose to build this business organically, rather than through acquisition, and we have had a tremendous year - growing the company by fifty per cent in the last year."
