wokingham chefWokingham based Wilson Storey Halliday won its latest coup this week when its Executive Chef, Rik Razza was awarded the Chef of the Year Award 2004 at the industry Cost Sector Catering awards.

Rik faced stiff competition on the night as he was judged against 3 of his peers from across the catering industry. But it was his mix of passion and commitment to producing the highest quality food and service as well as to developing the chefs who work for him that won the judges minds.

Rik was nominated by the company's Managing Director, Alastair Storey, who was keen for Rik's achievements to be recognised across the wider catering industry. He explained "We have some of our industry's most exceptional talent working for Wilson Storey Halliday and we're especially proud of this. Rik is an outstanding catering professional and he plays a vital role in the success of our business and this award is testament to his dedication."

2004 has been a great year for the local business which earlier in the year won the largest contract in its history. This success follows on from its huge achievements in 2003 which saw the company recognised in a national award as one of the fastest growing businesses in the UK.

Storey added, "It's great for everybody who is involved with our business when our people are rewarded for the outstanding service they provide. We try our hardest to provide our teams with an environment in which their careers can flourish and we're delighted that Rik's success has been recognised."

Talking about his award, Rik Razza said: "Catering is a competitive industry and for my efforts to be recognised at this event is one of the highlights of my career. More than anything else, I hope that my success provides the inspiration for other that this less glamorous side of the catering industry is an exciting place for Chefs to work."
