Two BaxterStorey Chefs in Roux Scholarship Regional Finals
Two of our most senior chefs at BaxterStorey have been selected as regional finalists in the Roux Scholarship, one of the UK’s most prestigious culinary competitions.
Kenneth Culhane and Kevin Sutherland, who are chefs at Barclays in Canary Wharf, have been chosen to join 16 other finalists who are vying to win an incredible opportunity to work in a 3 star Michelin restaurant for 3 months, receiving advice and guidance from internationally renowned family of Roux chefs.
Kevin and Kenneth will join the other finalists 4th March to cook a meal to secure their place in this year’s final They will have just 2.5 hours to prepare an original, sumptuous rice-based dish using a selection of shellfish as well as a dessert using ingredients that will be made known to them on the day. Their final dishes will be judged on creativity, taste, style and practicality.
It is not the first time Kenneth and Kevin have been tested in this competition. Kenneth has held a place in the regional finals twice before and last year Keith reached the finals, but narrowly missed out on winning.
Wishing the two chefs luck in their upcoming challenge, William Baxter, Deputy CEO, BaxterStorey, said: “We are extremely proud of Kevin and Kenneth’s achievements. They are the most incredibly talented chefs who produce outstanding food that makes them both real contenders for the Roux Scholarship title. BaxterStorey is home so many of our sector’s most skilled individuals and we’re committed to assisting offering our chefs the most inspired career opportunities and support in developing their careers and professional ambitions.”
BaxterStorey is the only company to have two chefs to reach the regional finals in the 2010 Roux Scholarship.
