Tsunami Appeal a thank you
Like everyone else in the World we where appalled at the devastation in Asia after the Tsunami hit many islands on Boxing Day 2004.
Like millions of others, our staff rallied round and held numerous fund raising events and personally donated £1,546 towards the Tsunami Appeal. This generous contribution was matched by BaxterStorey making a total of £3,092.
Richard Radnor, of the British Red Cross, in a letter of thanks for the contribution said, "Three months on we are still helping individuals and communities to recover from the effect of the Tsunami. Now that the initial emergency response phase is over we are helping people to rebuild their lives and their livelihoods. In addition, we are focusing our energies on the long term issues that many communities now face such as, preparing people for future disasters by training them in life-saving skills and helping to construct safe housing.
It is thanks to the massive generosity of individuals and organisations such as yourself that the Red Cross has been able to respond so effectively to this widespread disaster. The DEC's Tsunami Appeal has now raised over £300 million with the British Red Cross Asian Earthquake and Flood Appeal having raised £18 million".
