New name for BaxterStorey Foundation
More funds to be channelled through school kitchen garden project
The BaxterStorey Foundation, a registered charity set up by the UK’s leading independent contract catering company, has been renamed the WSH Foundation to enable all Westbury Street Holdings’ (WSH) companies to contribute funds.
The Foundation was established in 2009 to channel BaxterStorey’s charitable fundraising. Funds raised through the Foundation are used to support local schools in establishing kitchen gardens and donations are regularly made to other charities, including Hospitality Action and Springboard.
All WSH companies – BaxterStorey, benugo, Caterlink, Holroyd Howe and Portico – will now be able to raise funds for the Foundation. A board of WSH trustees has been appointed to provide strategic guidance as to where the Foundation can make the biggest difference with its donations.
Alastair Storey, Chief Executive of WSH, commented: “As a company we have strong aspirations to build on the achievements of the BaxterStorey Foundation. We felt it was appropriate to rename it the WSH Foundation so we can capture the wide array of fundraising undertaken in our other companies and maximise the donations we can award.”
WSH’s School Kitchen Garden project supports UK schools in setting up and maintaining kitchen gardens. The aim is to help children to be more aware of how food is grown, how it should be nurtured through the growing process and the journey of “field to plate”. To date, the Foundation has awarded 38 schools with a kitchen garden, totalling over £68,000.
“By working closely with schools, we hope that we will have a positive impact in reinforcing the importance of fresh food and provenance to children in the local community,” added Alastair Storey.
