Being at the Forefront of Environmental Standards

« Back

carbonWe have a dedicated environmental team, whose passion and everyday role is to look at our CSR and environmental practices.

We are leading the catering market with our CSR and environmental status and other caterers now follow in our footsteps. We are continually driving change and introducing new methods of waste reduction, carbon saving and biodegradable packaging solutions amongst many other ideas. Being the first Independenet UK Food Service Management company to achieve ISO 14001, is something we are very proud of. Mike Hanson, our Head of Environmental Management, sits on the environmental committee for many of our clients, namely The Environment Agency and DEFRA. He is also the only representative from our industry to be part of the government-created EIG Animal Welfare group.

We offer our clients the benefit of helping them to achieve their own environmental targets of less energy and less waste through company initiatives, whilst looking after the community with local purchasing and an appreciation of food miles. Overall we work alongside our clients to promote and directly influence their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

BS EN ISO 14001:2004 Accredited EMS
In July 2007 BaxterStorey received accreditation to ISO 14001 which is the internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems. This was achieved by becoming the first company in the World to achieve certification to STEMS BS8555.

Carbon Neutral Waterfront
BaxterStorey has achieved Carbon Neutral status at their Head Office in Reading. CarbonNeutral® is the leading branded standard for voluntary action on climate change. It represents the point at which greenhouse gas emissions have been assessed, reduced where possible and the remaining non-reducible emissions offset through high quality renewable energy, energy-efficiency or forestry projects. This status is backed up by a standard – The CarbonNeutral Protocol and an independent audit process that assesses the application of the standard. For more information click www.carbonneutral.com
