« Back

irishUK contract catering company BaxterStorey has entered the Irish market, winning a lucrative contract to manage AIB's seven outsourced contract catering operations in Dublin, Northern Ireland and the UK.

The contract was awarded to BaxterStorey following a comprehensive review of AIB's catering services which found a need for an 'agile service delivery model, adaptable to current and future business needs and providing a platform for continued business improvement in service, quality and cost,' explained AIB group catering manager, Peter Doran . 'What we were looking for was a win-win, fit for purpose, open and transparent business relationship.'

Following an in-depth tender process, BaxterStorey will now look after catering AIB sites at Donnybook, Sandyford Industrial Estate, Adelaide Road and Pembroke Road in Dublin, Time House in Naas, First Trust Belfast and the AIB centre at Oxbridge, England.

'We were looking to enter the Irish market and realised that to do it effectively we would need a platform.
At the same time AIB put their contract business out to tender and so it presented us with an ideal opportunity,' said Tom Barrett, director, BaxterStorey Ireland Ltd.

Established two and a half years ago by CEO Alastair Storey and Deputy CEO William Baxter, BaxterStorey is the UK's fifth largest contract catering company with a 3.2% share of the market. Employing 4,000 employees in 300 locations across the UK and Ireland, BaxterStorey had a turnover of stg£118m in 2006. 'Not only are we an ambitious company, we're a company with a serious track record,' explained Barrett. 'We make no secret of the fact that we want a presence in Ireland but we don't want to be Ireland's biggest catering company - we want to be the best. We are not driven by the bottom line but are driven by food, service and people. We believe if we get that right, then the money will follow.'
