Andy Lagor Cooks A Winner In Bournemouth . . .
Andy Lagor, Chef de Partie, at the CSC site in Aldershot, has won Wilson Storey Halliday's (WSH) first Salon Culinaire gold medal at the Wessex Salon Culinaire earlier this month.
In fact, this was also the first Salon Culinaire that Andy has entered; so his first entry was a double whammy for him and WSH.
Andy faced strong competition from over 30 other entrants but his winning dishes of 'Mi-cuit Salmon Nicoise with a Potato and Tomato Terrine', scored in excess of 90% and were judged to be best in class in the Two Starter Plates category.
Rik Razza, Executive Chef said: "There is a huge amount of talent amongst our chefs and we're keen that their excellence is recognised inside and outside of WSH. Andy is a great example of our vision of chefs working with WSH. His dedication to his profession, positive and energetic attitude as well as his focus on achieving the highest results for the customers he serves and the team he works with, impresses us all. The fact that he won his very first competition just proves what an excellent chef Andy has become. Well done Andy!"
The Wessex Salon Culinaire took place on 9 and 10 March in Bournemouth. The competition was organised by the Craft Guild of Chefs and supported by a variety of industry suppliers. The event returned to the South after a break of nearly 14 years, attracting teams from hotels, contract caterers, restaurants and the armed forces. Culinary competitions ran throughout the two day show, playing host to some of the UK's top chefs and provide a stage for chefs in both junior classes and senior classes all in competition for sought-after culinary awards and cash prizes on offer. The event entailed a brilliant display of live culinary competitions, seminars and demonstrations, which all took place on a central stage.
Andy's success is a brilliant achievement for himself and Wilson Storey Halliday. We all send our congratulations to Andy on his outstanding triumph at the show.
